A Passion for Strawberry Blondes recall of batches 20180405 (B644) & 20180807 (B648)

A can of Beerbliotek's "A Passion for Strawberry Blondes", a Passion Fruit and Strawberry Berliner Weisse.

Unfortunately due to misbehaving fruit, we need to recall batch 20180405 (B644) & 20180807 (B648) of our Berliner Weisse A Passion for Strawberry Blondes.

When dealing with a live unfiltered and unpasteurised product there can at times be issues with these beers when stored at room temperature. Sometimes a beer will appear to be finished fermenting for several days, and be fine for quite some time in the can, and then all of a sudden at room temperature the beer decides to find some more sugar to eat.

We have since changed the way we brew these kinds of beers, by adding the fruit in the primary fermentation stage, rather than the secondary fermentation stage, in order to eliminate the issue. Another way around the issue is to use aromas, but we feel that real fruit gives a better product in the end.

We always do our best to ensure the quality of our products before they leave our brewery, however, when we push the boundaries with the beers we create, as in this case with fruit, sometimes things do not go as planned.

We are really sorry for any inconvenience this has caused but we need to recall the following batches. For those who have a can with either of the following batch numbers and/or best before dates; 20180405 (B644) & 20180807 (B648), we recommend putting the can in a plastic bag and returning it to the place of purchase. If you can put the can in the fridge before returning, this will relieve some of the carbonation pressure inside the can.

Please note that the beer is in no way harmful to drink.

In General, we suggest that any hoppy beers or fruity unfiltered beers are kept in the fridge in order to preserve them better. We understand the lack of fridge space we all have, but you will notice all of your hoppy and fruity beers will hold up much better at a cooler temperature.

Thank you for your understanding and as always for drinking Beerbliotek.
