Our first collaboration with Gangsta Ladies Of Wort
We had the greatest pleasure hosting, brewing and hanging out with some of the truly awesome Gangsta Ladies of Wort.
This is G.L.O.W.’s second collaboration and first time brewing a beer in Sweden. We made a Rye Coffee Stout which will be released in Gothenburg.
G.L.O.W. stands for Gangsta Ladies Of Wort started by the incredible Mariana Schneider at Amager Bryghus in Copenhagen. G.L.O.W. is here to break stigmas surrounding women in the beer industry. No gender roles nor special treatment, just equality and respect. In October 2019 some of the most amazing women in brewing got together and built a project called G.L.O.W. The mission “To encourage women, LGBTQI, and people of different cultures and ethnicities within the brewing industry. To put it simply, to champion inclusivity”.
Mariana Schneider from Amager Brewery, Raissa Cherian from Stigbergets and Erika Brockberg from O/O joined our very own Jimmy Nilsson and fellow G.L.O.W. members Sky Andreasson, Madison Simpson and Marianne Griep to brew “Baby Goats Prancing in Pyjamas”. It wouldn’t be a Beerbliotek beer without the unusual name.
When we were asked if we wanted to be a part of their second collaboration we jumped at the chance! For us, this is about doing what we can to support a project that is of the utmost importance to some of our employees, friends and colleagues all around the world. We are lucky enough to have some amazing women working with us at Beerbliotek, but like many other breweries, our employees are predominantly male. We want to do everything we can do to support an initiative that brings more diversity to our industry, because more diversity just makes us better human beings and better brewers.
There is a lot to be done as far as making everyone’s work lives better, because as much as a lot of people refuse to see it, inequality is still a big problem in the beer scene. Follow and join G.L.O.W. in planting the seed of change. Help G.L.O.W. grow.
