Crossing the streams in the dark – a Black IPA

Our brewers really enjoy brewing new beers, or playing with variations in a style. In this case they’re not going with the flow,
but crossing the stream to pay homage to the forgotten Black IPA.

Description

Our brewers didn’t go with the flow, but crossed the stream to brew up this crossover between the forgotten Black IPA, and the big New England IPA. For the first time our brewery combined London Fog yeast with roasted dark malts to create a super fruit and hop forward Black IPA with a moderate bitterness built on a strong malt backbone.

Aromas of chocolate and coffee lean towards dried red fruits and then waves of mango. Fruitiness from the yeast enhances the dank, orange and grapefruit hop character, all playing together for a beer more IPA than black.
