Beerbliotek’s Guide to Gothenburg Bars & Restaurants

Beer in glasses at Haket, one of Beerbliotek's favourite bar and restaurant in Gothenburg.

Gothenburg is known as the beer capital of Sweden. We think rightly so! We’re grateful to have a thriving beer scene with some of the best craft breweries in the world, along with an engaged community who have a thirst for hand crafted beer. Plus, great bars & restaurants who offer an ever expanding selection of craft beers.

So, let us guide you to our favourite Gothenburg Bars & Restaurants, who have supported us over the years.

Haket

An open minded bar where everyone is welcome (#allaskamed)

Tasting glasses at Haket.

Local beer. Great food (we recommend the Fish & Chips). Cask Wednesdays. Quiz Night. Karaoke bar. Space for big groups. Welcoming & educated bar staff. A mixed crowd in a charming place. Our great friends who also happens to be Beerbliotek’s very first customer. Haket is a home away from home for us, where we’ve always felt like part of a family.

The Red Lion

When looking for an English Style pub in Gothenburg, look no further than The Red Lion.

A freshened up traditional British bar with great pub food, a warm and friendly atmosphere, and a very decent tap assortment. Since the start they have bought our beer. They are our local pub just a stone’s throw from the brewery. It was one of the places where we devised our plans for starting Beerbliotek and it is still the place where we go to meet up if we’d like to discuss the brewery whilst having a pint.

Brewers Beer Bar

Focussing on great craft beer from all over the world and super delicious artisan sourdough pizza.

We’re lucky enough to have two Brewers Beer Bars. They’re one of the first places we call when we have a new beer to release. Aside from that, it is also the most likely place to find Richard, propping up the bar and annoying the staff late on a Thursday evening, on one of his “I’m just going for a quick beer after work” pub crawl.

A burger and beer bar with a focus on music, started by Björn Gelotte from In Flames and Peter Iwers, who previously played in the band.  Restaurant 2112, if you haven’t already guessed it, is named as a tribute to the ‘2112’ album by Rush. Ölrepubliken

An endless choice of Craft Beer, whether its from Sweden, Belgian, British or anywhere in between.

It isn’t hard to find a bar in Gothenburg with multiple choices of local Swedish Craft Beer, but when you set out to find a Belgian Beer or a British Ale, or something new to try in between, Ölrepubliken is the place to head to. They have always had a focus on European breweries, and old school beer styles. You even get matching glasses with your beers, as a homage to Belgian Beer. Mix that Belgian feeling with a good ol’ British Pub welcoming in a Swedish Beer Hall, and you have Ölrepubliken. What is not to love?

Tapasbaren

Wonderful people with wonderful wine, beer and tapas.

One of the quieter places we go to with a calm setting, despite the fact that people come from all over Gothenburg to go here. Kyrkogatan 13

For cool and casual late night hideout spots in Gothenburg, look no further than Kyrkogatan 13.

Here you will find Champagnebaren, Unity Jazz and Bar Bruno. Each venue brings its own unique, vibrant and fun twist to the food & drink scene in Gothenburg. One of the many reasons why we love Kyrkogatan 13 is they have always bought local and been independent from the very beginning.

“We are importers ourselves and simply feel a little extra warm feelings for smaller producers who protect the environment and crafts, just like us.”

Hasselssons

The place everyone in Majorna is talking about.

Adam Axelsson and Oliver Bull, two owners of Hasselssons - a seafood restaurant Pop Up in Majorna, Gothenburg. They have collaborated with Beerbliotek, a Swedish Craft Brewery to make their Hasselssons Li'l Pils beer.

Hasselssons is a Pop-up Seafood restaurant famous for their fish and chips. But it’s much more than their well-known fish and chips, you could say they have transformed into a lifestyle, and it is only just the beginning. Like all good stories, Hasselssons began with three childhood friends, who were determined to make their dream of working together come true. Adam Axelsson and Oliver Bull, two out of the three co-owners, define their concept as “fast food from the ocean”.

Just down the road from our brewery is Hermanos TacoKios, which is possibly our staff’s new favourite place for lunch, and go-to place to grab a bite after work. We can confirm our little 3,5% Pilsner, Li’l Pils, pairs perfectly with their menu. Niklas has been a big part of the beerbliotek family and friends with us for a very long time. We wish him and the Hermanos TacoKiosk team the very best of success! We’re all excited to have a new lunch destination.
