A new beer called Paley McPaleface, a Great Member’s Club event and more beer internationally – Weekly Brewery Update

In the last week, we’ve been spending a lot of time discussing bottles and cans. A lot of labels were designed, and a lot of decisions were made. In short, we’re doing a lot more beer in cans, in addition to the four we currently have. As it stands now, we’ll be doing six new beers in cans in the next few weeks.

All of those cans will be labelled in our labelling line, so it’ll be a plain silver can with a similar label to the bottles wrapped around. The biggest difference is that these can plastic labels and the glue has to be approved by the Swedish recycling company Returpack, in order for them to be recycle friendly along with the aluminium of the can.

You can also expect some updated labels for all of our Pale Ales, IPAs and Double IPAs, but more on that next week.

A new beer, Paley McPaleface

Producing as many different beers as we do, 169 as of last week, it’s always a challenge to come up with names. Some days is easier than others. Sometimes a name just pops up. Sometimes the name exists before the beer.

In the case of Paley McPaleface, I took a walk through the brewery and asked around. In the end we settled on Paley McPaleface, because it’s a Pale Ale, so we started there and tried to find words that rhyme. If we had put this out to the internet to come up with a name, wouldn’t Paley McPaleface have been the name we got back? I mean just look what happened with Boatey McBoatface 🙂

Coming up with a name is an artform. Asking for help from our brewery employees poses other challenges. So we thought about what the internet would’ve said if we asked it...

This American Pale Ale has been enhanced with the Simcoe, Centennial and Columbus hops.

Name your own beer

Getting back to naming beers a little. If you have a name you’d like to send us, because you’re a naming genius, then use the form below. If your name gets chosen, then you’ll get a mention on the label. So why not get involved and name your own beer?

Empty cans, just waiting for fresh beer.

    Beerbliotek Member’s Club

Last night we had another great event with the Beerbliotek Member’s Club. They were the first to try our Eternal Darkness Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, from a can. There was a lot of mmmmm’s and aaahhh’s, which was great to hear. They were also the first to try Paley McPaleface, which was kegged a few hours earlier that day.

If you’re keen to become a member, then sign up on the Facebook page. This year there’s a lot of benefits, such as exclusive first tastings of our new beers and also the ability to order certain beers privately via Systembolaget in Sweden.

Getting hold of our beers Internationally

In the last week we also signed up with a distributor in Finland and New Zealand, so as of writing this, our beer will be available in eleven countries. The list is growing, as our beer becomes known outside of the Swedish borders, which has been great news.

If you’d like to drink our beer, then check the map to see if it’s available in your country. If you’d like to sell our beer in a country where we already have a distributor, then let us know and we’ll get you in touch with them.

If however, you’d like to distribute our beer in other countries, then please get in touch.

    Quality control…

During a packaging day, we always grab a can a two from the line, as a way to do a random quality control. This week we packaged a full batch of Hip Hops in cans, and the same applied here. Grab a can. Crack it open. Pour it in a glass. There’s two great things about this, one, the can is always ice cold, and two, it’s as fresh as what you can drink it, as it’s just a few seconds old.

I always head into the brewery on a packaging day, cause there’s always an ice cold beer available to test 🙂

That’s it from us for this week. We hope you’re looking forward to all the beer coming out soon in cans?

    Until next week.

    Keep well.

    Festivals

All in Beer Festival 4-5 November 2016

One of our favourite festivals is the All In Beer Fest. The reason? It’s just about beer.

We’ll be attending again this year, but if you’d like to attend, then there’s two ways to go about it. Buy a ticket, or enter our #FreshestCanInTheLand competition, where you stand the chance to win two entrance tickets.

    Bockstreet’s Bock, Alright! 6,8% Maibock.

Our brewers went back to Classics to brew a traditional German Maibock.

A well balanced, honey-coloured, medium bodied beer with a bold malt base. Bready sourdough rye aromas and sweet toffee, caramel biscuit notes in the mouth. Sun blushed fruit and orange peel from selected German hops, Mandarina Bavaria and Hallertau Mittelfruh, balances the smooth sweet finish. With a mild bitterness, and a light alcohol warming sensation, this is designed for slowing down.

Heading out the brewery doors today for bars and restaurants in Sweden, and is currently available for all our usual Export markets all over the world. Released at @systembolaget 1st April.

Hello Sweden! Today two new beers are now available at Systembolaget online and in stores all over Sweden.

Even more of exactly the same - 7,5% Double IPA

Citra, Cascade, Columbus and Cashmere hops take the lead in this light, golden and bruised pineapple coloured DIPA while vanilla, passion fruit and bright fresh citrus notes hit the nose. Big tropical and stone fruit flavours are rounded out with sweet notes and a grassy bitterness making this juicy beer surprisingly easy to drink.

Crossing the streams in the dark - 6,5% Black IPA

Aromas of chocolate and coffee lean towards dried red fruits and then waves of mango. Fruitiness from the yeast enhances the dank, orange and grapefruit hop character, all playing together for a beer more IPA than black.

Both beers are now available to all good bars and restaurants in Sweden, and the rest of the world, at all our usual export markets.
